This guide explains how to obtain the strongest weapon, the Sacred Sword, as well as its uses.
We also cover how to progress through the Puzzle [Legend of the Sacred Sword], along with important notes related to Ending branches and its combat performance,
so use this guide to assist you throughout your playthrough.
How to Obtain the Sacred Sword
Available From Your Second Playthrough
You can obtain it by clearing the Puzzle [Legend of the Sacred Sword]. It is treated as a hidden item used for weapon operation and as a component related to Ending branches.
This Puzzle is only hinted at during your first playthrough, but you can fully attempt it with data carried over into New Game+.
What About the Third Playthrough?
You can pick it up on your way to the Amida-Shirakawa (Rinko’s house) after returning from the Shrine Path.

It is located at the second Jizo Statue.
Offer Items to All Five Jizo Statues
The flow of this Puzzle is quite simple.
You will offer specific Key Items requested by five Jizo Statues scattered from the very beginning of the game up to Iwashimizu (after Shu’s family home).
You cannot collect everything at once and finish it immediately, so progress through the story while searching for each Jizo Statue and making offerings as you encounter them. Most of the Key Items desired by each Jizo Statue can be found nearby, so do not worry.

Things to Know in Advance
From your second playthrough onward, actions taken in an area called [Hermitage of Crimson Water], located past the room marked with the Inari-sama Door in the Worship Hall stage, will affect the Ending branch.
Naturally, it also plays a major role in how the Sacred Sword is handled after you obtain it. This can create a significant difference in weapon usage, so I will list it here with a spoiler warning, just in case.

Sacred Sword Performance
I used to be a devoted kitchen knife enthusiast, but now I can’t let this go.
It’s strong (No doubts)
The Sacred Sword can restore its durability while you are attacking with other weapons, allowing it to serve as a virtually permanent main weapon.
It also occupies a dedicated fourth weapon slot, so you don’t have to discard anything when you obtain it. Its attack animations are unique to the Sacred Sword, and its damage output is noticeably higher compared to other weapons.
The first heavy attack has excellent reach, letting you stagger enemies safely from a distance, while the second follow-up strike is a powerful wide-area attack.
It Also Has a Technical Side
It’s nice that it guards for you while in Focus, but what truly stands out is that attacking does not break your Focus. That alone is incredible.
Normally, Focus ends after a single attack, but with the Sacred Sword, it doesn’t. This means you can continuously benefit from the MAX Focus damage boost. That’s why it’s so strong.
On top of that, you can perform a Counter even while mid-swing, thanks to a clever motion-cancel mechanic.
With this kind of eccentric performance, building synergistic loadouts through Charms becomes incredibly fun.
It’s one of the best choices to help you conquer the Action Difficulty [Lost in the Fog].
What Happens If You Purge Its Grudge?
It turns into what is essentially an Steel Pipe in the shape of a sword.
All the amazing performance mentioned above disappears entirely, so you may as well switch back to your kitchen knife.
