【Potion Craft】Talents Explained

This guide explains Talents in Potion Craft.

It covers recommended Talents, along with key considerations and tips to keep in mind when learning them, so be sure to use this guide to help with your playthrough.

There Are Three Talent Categories

Trading】【Gardening】【Alchemy, each of which applies its effects to a different area.

Trading Category

Trading Category

This category focuses on increasing gold and reducing expenses.

Rather than simply raising potion selling prices, it includes many Talents that significantly improve negotiations with merchants and customers, expand the range of deals available with merchants, and enhance aspects related to shop reputation—true to its name, these Talents are all about improving your business.

Gardening Category

Gardening Category

This category focuses on various aspects related to the Enchanted Garden.

In addition to increasing material harvest yields and speeding up growth, it also includes some surprisingly interesting Talents that even allow you to earn gold.

Alchemy Category

Alchemy Category

This category is related to potion brewing.

While it has fewer branches, it includes many Talents that are quietly useful.

Early-Game Talent Recommendations

Everyone has their own playstyle, so think of this more as a set of suggestions.

No matter which Talents you choose to learn, you won’t end up stuck later on, so feel free to approach this casually.

Recommended Trading Talents

Early on, when your popularity level is low, potion selling prices are also low. Even if you increase the selling price by a few percent at that stage, it won’t make a significant difference yet.

Because of this, focusing exclusively on 【Trading】 Talents has relatively limited benefits in the early game.

Instead, it is more effective to unlock the set of subcategory Talents deeper within 【Trading】, particularly 【Perfect Haggling】, as this allows you to earn significantly more profit through price negotiations from day one.

Specifically, by unlocking 【Haggling over extremely complex topics】, you gain access to Very Hard haggling, increasing selling prices by 30%, while 【Unhurried Haggling】 slows down the arrow speed.

For the reasons outlined above, 【Trading】 can be learned later, once you have some breathing room.

Trading Category Summary

Haggling over extremely complex topics】【Unhurried Haggling

are particularly recommended.

Recommended Gardening Talents

Picking up 【Herbalism】【Mushroom Harvesting】 first to increase material yields can be very helpful. The subsequent 【Wildly Overgrown~】 and 【Careful~】 Talents are also solid choices.

【Herb Planting】 and 【Mushroom Planting】 can be learned a bit later, since it’s fine to wait until you actually obtain the Plants. The 【~Replanting】 Talents can be learned around the same time.

While it is technically possible to obtain Plants through 【~Seed Harvesting】 Talents if you get lucky, it doesn’t feel necessary to go that far.

Gardening Category Summary

【Herbalism】【Mushroom Harvesting】

【Wildly Overgrown Herb Harvesting】【Wildly Overgrown Mushroom Harvesting】

【Careful Herb Care】【Careful Mushroom Care】

are particularly recommended.

Recommended Alchemy Talents

There’s nothing here that you absolutely need to rush for.

【Bulk Brewing】 is an extremely useful Talent that refunds materials, and it truly shines once you have enough ingredients and recipes. You won’t need it during the first few days, but it’s a good idea to start picking it up around the time you begin working on Legendary Recipes.

【Alchemy Map: Visibility Radius】 is likely unnecessary if you are using the recipe guides on this site. If you really want it, then you might as well pick it up early on.

There is also the option of using 【Alchemical Practice】 to spawn experience books and rush leveling.

【Bulk Brewing】

is a decent recommendation.

Mid- to Late-Game Talent Recommendations

Here, “mid-game and beyond” is defined as the point when you start crafting Nigredo. Since this game has no clear ending, the term “late game” is intentionally avoided.

Recommended Trading Talents

By this point in the game, it’s a good time to start seriously investing in 【Trading】. You can also push prices even higher by picking up 【Potion Promotion】, which branches off from it.

The base potion selling price, which scales with your Popularity Level, also responds very well to these percentage-based bonuses.

【Increased Discount Chance】 and 【Reduced Markup Chance】, which make deals with merchants more favorable, as well as 【Friendship with Merchants】, which increases the likelihood of higher-tier materials appearing in stock, are also solid picks.

The popularity-boosting Talents branching from 【Good Potion Seller】 are best taken early if you plan to invest in them.

From here on, you can safely move toward filling out all Talents, but since 【Talented Potion Seller】 is essentially an infinite progression Talent, it’s best to invest heavily in it once you start feeling a bit burned out on the game.

Incidentally, 【Selling Potions to Merchants】, and especially 【Skilled Manipulator】, are, in my opinion, outrageous money-making Talents that completely overturn the game’s gold economy.

Recommended Gardening Talents

Unlock the Cave, Underwater area, and Crystal Grotto in order, learning the required Talents along the way.

The 【Quick ~ Growth】 Talents are honestly a bit underwhelming. After all, waiting five days isn’t that long.

However, 【Quick Crystal Growth】 is worth having, since nine days is a bit too long to wait.

【Fertilizing~】 Talents further improve efficiency and increase harvest yields, making them nice to have as well.

From there on, continue unlocking all Talents while comparing your progress with the other categories.

Gardening Category Summary

【Underwater Planting】【Crystal Planting】【Crystal Replanting】

【Quick Crystal Growth】【Crystal Seed Harvesting】【Crystal Harvesting】

【Wildly Overgrown Crystal Harvesting】【Fertilizing Crystals with Potions】

are particularly recommended.

Recommended Alchemy Talents

Before crafting Nigredo, it’s a good idea to pick up some levels of 【Bulk Brewing】, and before making Moon Salt, you’ll want to have 【Salt Specialist】 learned to some extent as well.

Bulk Brewing is especially powerful, as it refunds materials even when batch-brewing Legendary Substances and various Salts, so make sure to save your recipes properly in the first place.

【The Key is to Pull it out just in time】 and 【Better Restore Salt】 aren’t really necessary. If you mess up, you can just reload. (Being stingy.)

Alchemy Category Summary

【Bulk Brewing】【Salt Specialist

Aim to reach max level.

How to Obtain Talent Points

You gain 1 Talent Point each time you level up by accumulating experience.

How to Obtain Talent Points

Performing bulk brewing all at once grants experience very efficiently.

Resetting Requires Gold

One important thing to note is that resetting is done all at once. You cannot reset only part of your Talents.

The cost increases by 100 gold for each Talent you have learned, meaning that once you have learned 100 Talents, resetting will cost 10,000 gold.

Plan your choices carefully. If you just want to test Talents, you can experiment freely and then reload without saving. (Being stingy.)
