Bonus resets upon taking damage. When Swallow Is Most Useful Damage Increases After Landing a Counter Even without using Focus, there are moments when a brief Counter effect appears after a Perfect Dodge. Those short Counter windows — as well as Counters triggered by Rabbit or Serpent — satisfy the activation condition for Swallow’s buff. Also, although the description text makes it sound like the effects might stack, it turns out they actually do stack. My initial assumption was that they wouldn’t, but after preparing three observation patterns and asking an AI to analyze them, it returned an extremely convoluted formula and concluded: “Yes, they stack.” Either way, here’s how strong it is — in the first phase of the Shiromuku fight on the Lost in the Fog difficulty: Without Swallow: Ends after 10 Counters With Swallow (no mistakes): Ends after 6 Counters This alone shows just how powerful it is. Related Guide → All Omamori – Effects & Locations Rabbit: Effects & Location 【Rabbit】Location: Middle School (New Game+) Allows performing a Counter with a Heavy Attack during a Perfect Dodge. Stamina drops to 0 when successful. When Rabbit Is Most Useful You Can Counter Most Enemy Attacks You can Perfect Dodge most enemy attacks—aside from a handful of boss moves. This Omamori allows you to convert those Perfect Dodges directly into Counters. It’s hard not to call it one of the strongest. It even works against many boss attacks. You can interrupt troublesome multi-hit sequences and sometimes even cause a Stagger. The downside is that your Stamina drops to 0 after landing a Counter—but there’s a workaround. Counters triggered via the standard Perfect Dodge effect display do not reduce your Stamina to 0, so you’re safe there. Recommended Omamori Combinations It pairs extremely well with Omamori that activate on Perfect Dodge or Counter—and there are quite a few of those. Swordfish 【Swordfish】 After performing a Counter, Stamina will not be consumed for a short duration. From Draw Omamori This is the solution for dealing with Stamina. Even if your Stamina drops to 0, you can still continue attacking or create distance with a dodge. In fact, without Swordfish, Rabbit becomes noticeably harder to use. Related Guide → All Omamori – Effects & Locations Shrew Mole: Effects & Location 【Shrew Mole】Location: Shrine Path (New Game+) Dodging while at critical Health does not consume Stamina. When Shrew Mole Is Most Useful Dodging Costs No Stamina While at Low Health A “low Health” state refers to when the screen edges turn red and Hinako holds her arm as if in pain. Hinako’s damage increases in this state, but naturally, the risk of death also skyrockets. Under normal circumstances, you’d hesitate to equip Shrew Mole. It’s realistically a choice for either the “I never get hit” type of player who’s absolutely confident in their dodging, or for a desperation build when you have zero healing options. There is a workaround, though. It’s still quite awkward to use. Since Omamori cannot be swapped during combat, you must decide beforehand—while out of combat—to intentionally remain at low Health. Otherwise, there’s simply no sensible timing to equip Shrew Mole. In other words, you cannot conveniently drop to low Health mid-fight and then equip Shrew Mole on the spot. No Map Image Treasure Hall Walkthrough When Hound Is Most Useful You Can Restore Lost Sanity Max Defeating enemies restores your Sanity Max, which lets you use Focus Attacks more freely without worrying about the penalty. Of course, it’s also perfectly viable as a way to recover Sanity Max lost from taking damage. Just like with the Crow, after Hinako gets “reconstructed” in the Dark Shrine stage, enemies only count as defeated after you neutralize them and then perform Soul Drain. So if you take damage before draining a soul, you can equip Hound beforehand and recover your Sanity Max upon draining. Even if you didn’t have Hound equipped at that moment, you still have time to swap it in. Recommended Omamori Combinations Willow 【Willow】 Boosts the effectiveness of items and Omamori that restore Sanity. From Draw Omamori You can boost Hound’s modest Sanity restoration by pairing it with Willow. The recovery is still on the low side, but if you plan on equipping Hound anyway, adding Willow alongside it makes the effect noticeably better. Related Guide → All Omamori – Effects & Locations Suzuran: Effects & Location 【Suzuran】Location: Iwashimizu Increases the likelihood of performing a Perfect Dodge. Iwashimizu Walkthrough When Suzuran Is Most Useful Easier to Trigger a Perfect Dodge A Perfect Dodge is basically the invincibility window naturally built into Hinako’s dodge. If an enemy’s attack overlaps with that invincible window, a Perfect Dodge occurs (or at least, that’s how I interpret it). Suzuran extends that invincibility window, making it extremely helpful on the defensive side. Among the Omamori you can obtain during your first playthrough, it’s one of the strongest. That said, it only makes Perfect Dodges a bit easier—not dramatically easier. Your overall consistency will improve, but the game still demands that you read enemy attack timings correctly. Recommended Omamori Combinations Dolphin 【Dolphin】 Slightly restores maximum Sanity when performing a Perfect Dodge. From Draw Omamori Since each Perfect Dodge restores some of your maximum Sanity, you can throw out Focus Attacks without hesitation. Rabbit 【Rabbit】Location: Middle School (New Game+) Allows performing a Counter with a Heavy Attack during a Perfect Dodge. Stamina drops to 0 when successful. It pairs exceptionally well with Rabbit, one of the strongest Omamori in the game. Related Guides Here are my other SILENT HILL f guides. Feel free to check out anything that catches your eye.

In other words, when your Health starts getting low, equipping Crow and going on the offensive turns Hinako into a surprisingly aggressive fighter. After Hinako is altered in the Dark Shrine stage, an enemy only counts as defeated after you immobilize → Soul Drain them. This means if you took damage before the Soul Drain, equipping Crow and draining them will restore Health. Even if you forgot to equip Crow beforehand, you can swap it in and still make it in time.
