【Little Nightmares III】Institute (Late) Walkthrough

Walkthrough for Chapter 4 “Institute” – Late.

This guide is written from a single-player perspective, but the mechanics of each floor, collectibles such as Dolls, and combat details are explained with images so co-op players can benefit as well.

Things to Know

Collect 5 Dolls to Unlock an Achievement

There are a total of 5 Dolls hidden throughout the Institute. Collecting all of them will unlock the trophy for the achievement “Filed Away”.

In this second-half walkthrough, you can pick up two of them at points ⑤⑥. Try grabbing them as you go. (You can find three in the first half.)

Discover 5 Ghosts to Unlock an Achievement

There are a total of 6 Ghosts hidden throughout the Institute. Discovering all of them—by shining your light on each until they vanish—will unlock the trophy “Institutionalized”.

In this second-half walkthrough, you can discover two of them at points ②⑦. Try seeking them out as you progress. (You can find three in the first half.)


Institute (Late) Walkthrough


When the arm reaches out, pull off the boards and run.
In the next room, hide under the center table for a while. Once the hand stops moving, crouch and move over to the right side to pull the lever.
Another chase will start, so keep running without getting caught.

Ghost Point
After the chase, keep going until you reach a staircase hall. Before you go up, reveal the Ghost.
Once you’ve climbed the stairs, head to the right. From behind the shelf, shoot the bottle with your bow to disable the Nurse, then pick up the key.
Return to the staircase hall and unlock the door on the left.


In the corridor, pull the lever to open both the nearer and farther doors.
Head through the nearer door to pick up the extremely familiar doll again at , then move toward the back of the corridor at . You’ll now be able to cross the broken floor.
In the next room, where the floor has collapsed, placing the doll at position will make the right-hand door passable. You can leave the doll here.


In the ward packed with Nurses, stay crouched and weave your way between them, then slip into the trash chute in the room on the right.
Once you reach the yard, you’ll need to jump across the river—wait until the bed mattress floats into place and use it as a platform.

When the Hypnotist corners you, the moment the slow-motion cut-in starts, have Low shoot the eye in his palm with her bow. It basically works like a QTE.

Doll Point
Pick up the Doll at the far end of the corridor.
Once Low pulls the lever at , Alone goes through the door that opens at .
From inside the room, Alone uses the spanner at to break the wall so Low can join up. Then move on and ride the elevator.

Doll Point
Go through the opening in the wall on the side to find a key and the final Doll.
If you haven’t missed any dolls up to this point, you should unlock both the Institute-specific doll achievement and the overall one.

Ghost Point
At the dead end just before the corridor, unlock the door on the left. Inside that room, you can reveal the final Ghost.

This is a chase against the Hypnotist.
Hit the gong you pass along the way with your spanner.
In the large hall with the mirror, keep dodging the rubble and other debris for a while and a gong will drop down on the left. Have both characters pull off the boards and smack it with the spanner. The rattled Hypnotist will expose the eye in his palm, so shoot it with your bow. You’ll repeat a similar pattern one more time.
To finish the fight, smash the Hypnotist’s cracked glasses lens with the spanner, then land two shots with the bow.
